Note: To race, you must sign the BME Release Of Liability Waiver HERE
All racers also have to sign the Winter Park Resort Waivers HERE – clicking Summer Activities, then 2020 Bike Program and/or Event Participant. This waiver will cover athletes for racing and the race day ticket and must be completed before checking in on your specific race day.
The BME Winter Park Event is SOLD OUT
The BME returns to Winter Park again in 2020. Taking place on September 11th-13th, this ever-popular event will blend high altitude racing mixed with rugged terrain and big descents. Winter Park will be a single-day event, but due to COVID-19 restrictions we will be splitting up the fields in to 3 days of racing.
The event will now take place on Friday, September 11th through Sunday, September 13th. It will still be a single day race with 4 stages, but due local COVID regulations and safety in mind, we are only running 100 racers per day.
THERE IS NO PRE RACE PACKET PICKUP. RACERS WILL GET A TEMPERATURE CHECK, NUMBER PLATE, LIFT TICKET AND TIMING CHIP WHEN YOU ARRIVE FOR YOUR RACE DAY AND JOURNEY START TIME. IF YOUR E-WAIVER IS NOT SIGNED WE WILL HAVE NO CHOICE BUT TO VOID YOUR ENTRY AND WILL NOT BE ABLE TO ISSUE A REFUND. PLEASE SIGN ONLINE WAIVER IN ADVANCE. MORNING REGISTRATION IS ONLY OPEN FOR CATEGORIES SCHEDULED TO RACE THAT DAY.
Riders will be challenged to 1 day of racing that will push the athletes to the utmost and keep them on their toes at all times. Racers can expect 4 legitimate stages for the single day race. Groms categories will race ALL stages on Saturday and Sport categories will race 3 of the 4 stages on Friday. Again and very important to note, this is a single day race and the fields will be split into the order listed below. No tech support or aid stations will be provided on course. The BME sponsor and vendor village will be located in the base village, where tech support and race teams will be located.
Sport Men, Sport Women, U21 Women (17-20), Master 40+ Women and Amateur Women (21-39) will race.
Groms (10-16) and Amateur Men (21-39) will race.
Master 50+ Men, Master 40+ Men, U21 Men (17-20), Expert Open Men, Pro Women and Pro Men will race.
Per COVID regulations, there will be no aid stations (hydration or food) available on course or in the sponsor village over the course of the weekend. Racers must be prepared for a full day on the bike and bring appropriate snacks and hydration to get through the day. There will also be no post-race lunch due to the same COVID protocols in place.
LIFT TICKETS – VERY IMPORTANT:
Race day lift tickets (single day) are provided as part of registration. For anyone riding the bike park or practicing before their scheduled race day, lift tickets must be purchased online 48 hours in advance, no exceptions. Athletes will have to go through the regular guest purchase process in advance to reserve their ticket. Trestle Bike park will sell out each weekend and there will not be another option to acquire practice day lift tickets. Click HERE to purchase your lift tickets.
Packet pick up (temperature check, number plate & timing chip) will take place the morning of each race day. Only participants racing that day, can check in via our socially distanced process in the base area of the resort. Racers will then immediately begin their journey start for the day of racing.
Also due to the unique circumstances, there will be NO OFFICIAL PRACTICE day. Courses will be released 1 and 1/2 weeks before the actual race weekend and available only on the Trailforks app. This will allow racers to practice on their own time the weekend before, Friday – Sunday, or during bike park operating hours the weekend of the event. The bike park will be closed Tuesday – Thursday, so no one is allowed to ride the trails or pedal the roads on those days. For anyone racing on Saturday or Sunday, you will be allowed to ride the race stages on Friday and Saturday, once that day’s racers finish each stage and the trail is swept by medical. At that point, race stages will re-open to the public. Reminder, non race day lift tickets must be purchased in advance online. There will be no on-site ticket purchases, so plan ahead.
BME will require face coverings in all public areas, including the sponsor village, at registration check in, while loading/unloading chair lifts and throughout the base area of the resort. Racers can remove face coverings once on the lifts, at start lines, during pedal transitions and while racing. Otherwise face coverings must be worn at all times. Additionally, BME will be conducting temperature checks on all racers at registration and packet pick up, along with a symptoms checklist to ensure all racers do not have signs of the virus. Our staff will also be conducting the same tests on all BME employees, volunteers and resort operations crew. If a racer does have a fever (over 100.4 degrees) or COVID related symptoms, they will not be allowed to race and will be offered a refund for their entry. If anyone is showing any signs or symptoms of COVID before heading to each respective event, we ask you to stay home and quarantine yourself, and we will work with you on your registration.
