With the mountain biking season kicking into gear and after months of careful deliberation about major events, the time has come for the BME team to make a challenging decision. Due to COVID-19 safety concerns and local venue restrictions outside of our control, we announce the cancellation of our Santa Fe stop for this year, along with the postponement of the Winter Park event to the fall.
The Yeti Cycles Big Mountain Enduro presented by Maxxis, will now kick off the season at Big Sky, MT on August 22nd-23rd, followed by the rescheduled Winter Park, CO stop on September 12th-13th and culminating with Angel Fire, NM on October 10th-11th hosting as the BME Finals. The Winter Park stop will still be a single day race, but we’ll be splitting up the fields so half of the racers compete on Saturday and the other half on Sunday to help with social distancing protocols.
For racers who are already signed up for the Winter Park stop, your entry will be automatically applied to the rescheduled date in September. If you are unable to attend the new date, you may transfer your entry to Angel Fire in October or to an entry of choice next season. For racers who are signed up for Santa Fe, your entry will be transferable to any 2020 event or valid for an entry of choice next season.
Due to the upfront and overhead costs of running a year-around event business, we are unfortunately not able to offer refunds. This is a difficult decision, and certainly not something we take lightly during these tight economic times. We humbly ask that racers be understanding of what goes into planning and producing large-scale events and the resources involved, so that we are able to continue bringing you events next year and into the future. An email will be sent out to all registered racers explaining how to transfer entries and will specifically touch on that process a bit further.
No one has a crystal ball as to what sporting events will look like in the coming years, but you have our commitment to making future BME events the biggest celebration and party on two wheels. The BME is more than a race series. It is a community of passionate mountain bikers, trail builders and like-minded outdoor enthusiasts. Friendships, camaraderie and lasting memories have been created around the BME over the past 8 years and we collectively as a team are extremely grateful for your continued support. So thank you for your understanding, and we look forward to seeing you at the BME races soon.
